"Sawtooth is a powerhouse band, one of the top acoustic groups in the upper Midwest." -Jim Whitney, Twin Cities Acoustic Music Calendar
Dazzling audiences with precision picking and sharp harmonies developed over 8 years of playing, performing, and growing up together, the Sawtooth Bluegrass Band has created a strong musical rapport, which is now channeled through their infectious original material.
The sound of the Sawtooth Bluegrass Band is rooted in traditional bluegrass instrumental and harmony work and is influenced by the modern acoustic sounds of Nickel Creek, the Punch Brothers, and the Steep Canyon Rangers. Further influence comes in from the surprisingly eclectic listening habits of the band members, which range from Frank Sinatra to Eric Church, and The Who to The 1975.
During a live performance by the Sawtooth Bluegrass Band, audiences can expect creative original songs, hard driving bluegrass, classic country, gospel, and classic rock. Tying it all together is the band’s ability to put on a good show. Each band member’s strong passion for performing music is communicated through their entertaining and endearing stage show.
These young men are bringing audiences of all ages to their feet at fairs, festivals, opera houses and charity events across the Midwest. The band has made several appearances in Branson, MO, performed at numerous bluegrass festivals, the MN State Fair, and on stage with A Prairie Home Companion’s Garrison Keillor.
Sawtooth has released four CD’s to date. Their debut album, “Movin’ On”, consists of a variety of bluegrass stylings, while the band’s bluegrass gospel collection, “He Can Be Found”, is a fresh, dynamic take on gospel tunes, old and new. "Bluegrass Honky Tonk" is an album of bluegrass covers of classic country songs. "Gunflint Trail" is a showcase of the group's best material, featuring 8 band originals. Coming in 2015 is a new all original project set to feature all original material.
The Sawtooth Bluegrass Band is the Moravec Brothers -- Ethan on bass & vocals and Jesse on mandolin & vocals, and also the Birtzer brothers -- Clint on guitar & vocals, Luke on fiddle & vocals, and Shane on banjo.
